Antibiotics are used for brood diseases, which are diseases that the baby bees in a hive have. Christopher Cripps, DVM, owner of Betterbee, explains how to administer antibiotics to a beehive.

For bees, antibiotics are administered by mixing them with dry sugar and sprinkling that mixture on top of the brood nest. Veterinarians should think of each bee in a hive as each cell in a dog—just as you treat the whole dog, you treat the whole beehive.
