What is UWB Radar Technology?

Mark Stephenson, DVM, chief veterinarian at Voyce PRO, explains how Ultra wideband will be a game changer for remote monitoring.

“UWB stands for Ultra wideband and it is going to be a game changer for remote monitoring because it is a technology that is very safe, is very low frequency, and very low power. Because of that it doesn’t require any skin contact, so it’s non-invasive. It can sit within a probe on a collar and be able to look inside the neck and look for movement of heart rate and respiratory rate, which allows us to non-invasively collect that data.

It can be used in so many different ways and I think in the future there will be many more ways in which it can be used, so stay tuned. [At] the moment, just the fact that it can capture heart rate and respiratory rate non-invasively is going to be a big boom for veterinarians to be able to remotely monitor those things at home."
