Pet Owners' Interest in Clinical Trials

Margaret Gruen, DVM, MVPH, PhD, DACVB, researcher at Duke University's Canine Cognition Center and adjunct professor at North Carolina State University, discusses two research projects she conducted that looked at pet owners and their interest in participating in clinical trials.

Gruen found that one of the top influencers of pet owners choosing to participate in clinical trials was the recommendation of their veterinarian. She also found that there is interest in clinical trials, but the holdback is on the availability of information, requirements, and accessibility of clinical trials.
