Janet McConnell, CVT, director of education and professional development at Compassion-First Pet Hospitals, says becoming certified for Free Free is easy—and a lot of fun.

All you have to do is log onto the Fear Free website and take the 7 assigned modules that were written by behaviorists and other veterinarians, McConnell says. The modules are RACE approved, meaning you receive 9 continuing education credits upon completion of the course.

McConnell says the modules cover everything from communication with your veterinary team and getting your clients on board, to treat ladders and pre-visit advice. With the Fear Free certification, McConnell says you also get exposure to all the tools on the Fear Free website, including podcasts, client handouts, the Facebook group, etc.
