Dr. Khursheed Mama: I think it’s hard to pick a specific sedative or anesthetic drug for every patient because they come presenting with different conditions. Animals, just like people, have different levels of anxiety. They have different levels of pain. Their disease states may be different, so no one drug, I think, is the answer for sedation or tranquilization or anesthesia in all patients.
