RECALL: Raw Cat Food Recalled Due to Potential Listeria Contamination

After testing by the FDA and the Ohio Department of Agriculture, 2 lots of Radagast raw cat food tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

The raw pet food recalls keep on coming. This time, Radagast Pet Food, Inc., a raw cat food manufacturer, has voluntarily recalled 1 lot of its Free-Range Chicken and 1 lot of its Free-Range Turkey cat foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

According to Radagast Pet Food, this recalled lot was shipped to distributors in May 2017 and none of the recalled product is currently in stock with those distributors.

According to Radagast Pet Food, this recalled lot was shipped to distributors in December 2017 and some of the recalled product may still be for sale.

Listeria can cause listeriosis in dogs, the clinical signs of which may include diarrhea, vomiting, fever, muscular and respiratory signs, abortion, and even death. Humans infected with Listeria can have symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, aches, and fever, as well as more serious ailments including arterial infections, endocarditis, and even death.

No pet or human illnesses have been reported due to this voluntary recall.
